Mary Day 3

First, I would like to thank those of you who have posted comments. It means a lot to hear from you and know how much support we're getting from loved ones at home. It might seem strange but I think we feel even farther away from you all than we are geographically (and we couldn't be any greater distance) because we are going through all of these awesome things and can only share them secondhand. No worries. We'll all be able to hang out soon enough.
To address a couple of comment questions/requests:
Yes, her orphanage shoes have soccer balls on them and were, sadly, a bit small. Look for new pink Nikes or Sqeaky Shoes (have squeakers in the heal to encourage heal-toe walking) in future pics.
We, too are glad she's taking after Leigh in more than appearance only (although she does have my sticking-out ears). She's bright and beautiful and makes me want to be a better man - just like mom.
For Lori, her forehead probably smells like the last thing she ate, lotion or baby soap, but that's not what I smell. I smell lobster rolls and Pine Point Beach; Leigh's smile and a night on the couch watching games; honeysuckle bushes at Davidson and the roses in front of our old house; the Sox and Pats; mom's scampi and braccioles; Great Expectations and Sonnet 116; Alexander's Pizza and a winning lottery ticket; but most of all, she's smells like my daughter. She smells like everything good with a heeping side of hope and promise.
And there is no warmer feeling than burying your head in her neck for a smooch or raspberry - especially when she reacts with a giggle or a googoo in your ear.

Next up: A bit more on our travels and a review of yesterday's rookie errors. Plus, of course, more MARY.

Ally,
You can bite me whole. It was a weak moment but I'm back, so double-bite me.

Delicious! That is EXACTLY how I imagined she smelled. Thanks for sharing! Love her natural pout. So when will y'all be back here? I just scored a training for teens in Charlotte in January. The first of many work excuses to see that little pumkin. Shameless, I know!
